What do we do?

J-MENA GREEN is a collaborative platform aimed at:
i) Online information and knowledge sharing (awareness creation) and 
ii) On-ground practical opportunities creation and stakeholder matching. 
It pools the knowledge, expertise, and resources (financial and in-kind) of various stakeholders (Businesses, financing institutions, government and non-government agencies, and academia) to proactively synergize their efforts in a win-win partnership to match the “seeds” from Japan with the “needs” of MENA countries to promote green business matching toward decarbonized economies. 
Specific activities include, but are not limited to:

How do we work?

J-MENA GREEN is governed by a Secretariat supported by Country Working Groups (CWG). Each CWG includes EXPERTS from business associations, supporting agencies (NGOs, NPOs, Academia, etc.), financing agencies, and government agencies involved directly or indirectly in the targeted country’s prioritized programs/sectors. The proposed governance structure is shown in the figure below:

Who are we

Acknowledging the uniqueness of Japan-MENA Green Business Cooperation, the urgency of action, and the opportunity offered by the momentum, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies  (IGES –a think tank HQ in Kanagawa, Japan), The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB– Multilateral Development Bank HQ in Saudi Arabia and operating in 57 countries), the Gulf Research Center (GRC – a think tank HQ in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) and The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE – an intergovernmental organization with diplomatic status that aims to enable and increase the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency practices across pan-Arab countries) collaborated to launch the J-MENA GREEN.
