Egyptian-German Joint Committee on Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection (JCEE)

Brief outline

The Facility in Egypt is a product of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the European Union (EU) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

The Green Value Chain (GVC) credit line provides finance and advice for private sector SMEs to support their competitiveness and growth by strengthening product quality, adding value, improving standards, and creating an enabling environment for exports. The facility supports CAPEX investments in general and gives a special emphasis on green technologies.

JCEE jointly implements activities starting from 2008 with its partner

entities in five fields:

Utility-scale Renewable Energies

National Energy Efficiency Strategy

Renewables and Efficiency at the Utility Level

Efficiency Technologies in Industry, and

Climate Finance and Capacity Development.

Germany will also continue and expand the close cooperation in the JCEE in the future; the project is scheduled to enter its 5th phase in July 2023, and the Federal Government is allocating a budget of EUR 10 million.
