GEC is proactively engaged in projects, such as introducing low-carbon technology into developing countries using the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM); UN agency support on waste management; support for overseas business expansion by Japanese companies possessing excellent environmental and energy-saving technologies; and international training.

GEC operates the JCM Global Match Platform, supported by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center (OECC), Japan.
