Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center (OECC), Japan

Brief outline

OECC positions promote global cooperation related to climate change, ‘circular economy,’ and ‘biodiversity’ through various cooperative activities, research, public relations, etc., including:   

– Contribution to intergovernmental policy dialogues;

– Support institutional development;

– Investment project development and business development;

– Research and analysis;

– Support for capacity building;

– Networking and international conference management; and

– Strategic public relations and information dissemination.

OECC serves as the Secretariat of the “Japan Platform for Redesign: Sustainable Infrastructure” (JPRSI). OECC plays a central role in implementing Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) programs and the diffusion of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), a scheme by which the Japanese Government assists in implementing projects for GHG emission reductions overseas.
